Fall is moving fast, and that means another busy season of writers conferences approaches quickly. If you want to get great instruction on publishing and also possibly pitch your work to agents who are building their client list, come to a writers conference later this fall. Let me share some of them that will have literary agents in attendance:
October 28-30, 2016: Writer’s Digest Novel Writing Conference in Los Angeles. WD is coming to LA, so check it out. This is a craft-based conference with lots of presentations and sessions on how to make your writing shine. Our biggest speakers include Jane Smiley, Garth Stein, and more. There are different panels and sessions taught by agents — specifically Susan Finesman (Fine Literary), Paula Munier (Talcott Notch), Steven Hutson (Wordwise Media), and Patricia Nelson (Marsal Lyon Literary). Chit chat with these agents following their work at the conference.
November 5, 2016: Show Me Masterclass at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. This two-day event, put on by the University of Missouri, combines classes on the business and craft of writing. I myself (Chuck) will be teaching there on publishing options today, querying agents, social media & branding, and professional writing practices. At least one agent (Rebecca Bugger of Serendipity Literary) will be in attendance at the event.
November 19, 2016: Las Vegas Writing Workshop in Las Vegas, NV. This one-day event features sessions on getting published, pitching agents, and more. 8 literary agents will be present to meet with writers and take pitches.
