Pitch Agents at Conferences in Minnesota, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Detroit

screen-shot-2016-10-31-at-12-31-47-am2017 approaches fast, and that means another busy season of writers conferences is at your door.

If you want to get great instruction on publishing and also pitch your work to agents who are building their client list, attend a writers conference in early 2017.

Let me share some of them that will have literary agents in attendance, as well as a Writer’s Digest editor/staffer in attendance:

Feb. 11, 2017: Minnesota Writing Workshop in St. Paul. It will be cold, but awesome. 14 literary agents and editor are at this event to meet with writers and take pitches. There are sessions on agents & queries, getting published, craft & voice, sci-fi & fantasy, memoir writing, romance writing, thriller & mystery writing, marketing your books, amazing first pages, and much more. It doesn’t matter what kind of project you are working on — there is at least one faculty member who is waiting to meet you at this event.

Feb. 16-19, 2017: San Francisco Writers Conference in San Francisco. Writer’s Digest has long been a presence at this fantastic Bay Area event. Tons of agents are there to be on panels and meet with writers. There are many tracks of speakers, and the location (upscale Nob Hill area in SF) is great. I have spoken at this conference several times in the past, and it is high class. This is widely regarded as one of the biggest and best events along the west coast.

Feb. 25, 2017: Atlanta Writing Workshop in Atlanta. This growing conference already has 10 agents lined up to attend, and that number will grow as the next weeks go along. There are lots of sessions on getting published. Confirmed agent/editor faculty so far includes: Cherry Weiner (Weiner Literary), Marisa Corvisiero (Corvisiero Literary), Janell Walden Agyeman (Marie Brown Associates), Sally Apokedak (Leslie H. Stobbe Literary Agency), Latoya C. Smith (L. Perkins Agency), Eric Smith (P.S. Literary), Elizabeth Copps (Maria Carvainis Agency, Inc.), Vanessa Eccles (Golden Wheat Literary), Elizabeth May (Kensington Publishing), and Kristy Hunter (The Knight Agency).

March 25, 2017: The Writers Conference of Michigan outside Detroit. This conference already has 10+ agents set to attend and meet with writers. Take advantage of these agents visiting The Mitten State and pitch your work through an in-person pitch. At this workshop, there will be three tracks of classes going on at all times, so you can attend a session that speaks to you and your writing.

Like planning WAY ahead? I have to throw out the dates of the 2017 Writer’s Digest Conference in NYC: August 18-20, 2017. We had 800 attendees (and 64 attending literary agents) last year and the event was an amazing smash. Come join us in 2017.
