About Literary Agent Kiana Nguyen:

Kiana Nguyen joined Donald Maass Literary Agency in 2016, where she assisted several agents, and is now building her own client list. She is seeking YA fiction across genres, particularly those with POC and queer voices. She is also interested in Adult romance and domestic suspense thrillers.

What She’s Seeking:

I represent Young Adult fiction in all genres except historical (unless it’s fantasy or alternate history). I am presently focused on acquiring contemporary YA, with specific interest in psychological thrillers similar to Kara Thomas’ work or ONE OF US IS LYING by Karen McCanus. Romances like EMERGENCY CONTACT by Mary H.K. Choi are more my speed than Sarah Dessen. I want diverse casts, and would love them from diverse creators! I am not interested in white suburbia or rich kids. I am here for any and all queer content as well. Sweet spot would be a black/POC WE ARE OKAY by Nina Lacour.

In Adult, I am only interested in romance and domestic suspense. Again, emphasis on more diverse content and creators. I really love enemies-to-lovers! Favorite romance writers right now are Alyssa Cole, Alisha Rai, and Rebekah Weatherspoon. If you can comp to Broad City, I want it. With domestic suspense, I love the secrets that can exist in intimate relationships and I want to see this genre branch outside of white suburbia!
